Güd Vegan, Altrincham Market
This is my first review and it had to be about Güd! Altrincham are really upping their game in the food arena, but in my opinion, Güd tops the bill! It's definitely my favourite place to eat in Altrincham.
"Fresh, flavourful vegan street food. All handmade with love".
The above quote is taken from Güd's website and it's spot on! I started eating from Güd way back when I ate meat and the stall was based in the market itself. I remember the first day Mr B and I went to get some food and Mr Güd had ran out of polenta fries… and most of the other things on the menu come to think of it because the food was very popular! That’s what made us go back early doors one day to make sure we tasted the goods! It’s food like this which made me realise that being vegan wasn’t that bad after all and that food can be surprisingly flavoursome.
Every single meal we’ve had from Güd has been delicious and the food always looks appetising, fresh and colourful. Mr B and I were happy to see that Güd moved into the market square with a permanent street food stall. This means he can now stock a larger quantity of food and there’s less chance that he will run out of items haha!
Menu items now range from breakfast (e.g. homemade baked beans, porridge and avocado on toast), black bean or quinoa burgers as well as soups, stews and curries to warm you up in the colder weather. It's got to be said again though… the food really is GOOD and the guy knows what he’s doing. You can get burgers in the area that are double the price and nowhere near as tasty. Everything is cooked to order and you can watch him roll out the thinnest and yummiest flatbread to encase a tasty burger! You’ll probably spot us there most weekends and our favourite is the Mexican black bean burger with caramelised onions, guacamole and chipotle sauce.
There’s a lovely outside seating area with bunting. It’s lovely in the warmer weather but it’s still nice to sit outside in the cold when you’re wrapped up warm! You can even borrow a blanket too!
The next time I visit, I’ll see if I can talk with Mr Güd and see what his hopes are for the future. I’m hoping they involve polenta fries and beetroot ketchup – I really miss them. They were a thing of tasty beauty and the ketchup was on another level!
If you're local and you haven't been... what are you waiting for? You can visit Güd from Wednesday – Sunday and I think he serves food between 10 – 4pm. If you’ve eaten from Güd tell me your favourite items in the comments below.
