GRUB's ExtraVEGANza - April 2017
This was the second and last ExtraVEGANza held at Alphabet Brewery, but don't fear as GRUB are moving to a new location set to open for business at the end of May. They promise to bring us more vegan food, more vegan beers, more top tunes and more seats! Winner!
So without further ado, here's my mini review of the last ExtraVEGANZA and like last time (see my review here), I couldn't eat everything (cue tiny violin for a greedy pig!) but as per usual the standard of food was high, it was busy and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves on such a sunny day. It was also really nice to meet Jules (one of the organisers) and bond over our love of feeding our face with good vegan grub! If you scroll down to the end of the post, you'll see all of the food porn!
So first up is Club Mexicana who came up all the way from London and were serving up To-Fish Tacos, Jackfruit Burritos and Beer Battered Cheeze Fries. They're 100% vegan and were my number one pit stop as I have been stalking and drooling over their Instagram pics for months and boy did they NOT disappoint. Without thinking, we both opted for a Burrito and some Cheeze Fries meaning we were too full to try the Tacos (again, cue a tiny violin) but I've had it on good authority that they were bloody incredible. The Burrito was packed full of yummy Jackfruit, Guac, Beans, Pickles and sauces and the Cheeze Fries were literally to die for! How the hell do they make them? I make no apologies for the amount of Club Mexicana food porn below - it was THAT good. So, if you're down in London you need to head over to Camden Market and get your feed on!
Next up was Vaso Kitchen. Now they're not a vegan trader but they cooked up vegan curries that smelled absolutely divine... that smell when they lifted the lid off the pots was incredible and you could smell it down the street. Beautiful. We got the Aloo Gobi to share and the flavours were spot on with lovely fluffy rice and I'd definitely get more grub from them next time.
Last and certainly not least was this FIT ice cream from Ginger's Comfort Emporium. Again, not usually a vegan trader but they bought along some beautiful vegan ice creams. The Salted Caramel Peanut Butter - otherwise known as 'Chorlton Crack' was THE best ice cream I've eaten since being vegan. Absolutely incredible! I'm just gutted we waited too long and they had sold out of the Rye Cookies from Pollen Bakery as that would have been a right treat and a half. I need more of this ice cream in my life.
I'm absolutely gutted that we couldn't fit any more food in our bellies (and we didn't have breakfast so who knows what happened), but the food from the other traders also looked amazing so I hope they come back so I can feed my face and write a review :)
You can find out more information about GRUB and their big build on their website and Instagram (@grubmcr). I'm really looking forward to seeing their new digs and getting my scran on and hope to meet some of you there! Until next time...
P.S... We definitely need to be more strategic about reviewing food in the future so we can eat as much as possible and give all the traders a shout!
